Welcome, dear visitors,
this website is dedicated to the history and development of department"Theoretical physics", as well as to its current activities.
Here, you can find information on the people in our department, on the courses, we teach and many other useful e-materials..
Department "Theoretical physics" is part of the Faculty of Physics in Sofia University. The department was founded more than 80 years ago and it is one of the first sections formed the modern look of the Faculty of Physics.
Our goal is to offer the widest possible set of knowledge in the fields of theoretical, mathematical and computational physics.
The department prepares specialists in number of theoretical fields: high energy physics and particles, quantum theory, quantum mechanics, condensed matter, superconductivity, gravity, astrophysics and cosmology, mathematical physics and more.
Many of the students specialising in the department continue their education and work in one of the best universities and institutes in Europe and USA.
Groups:
- Joint Group on Gravity and Astrophysics(JGGA)
- Group on quantum optics and quantum information
- Group on theory on superconductivity
